Joyce qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1996 and since that time she has gained extensive experience of working as a clinician, occupational therapy team leader and Case Manager. She has worked within a variety of clinical settings in hospitals, outreach and the community in both the UK and Zimbabwe. As a Case Manager, Joyce manages adult and paediatric clients who have sustained a wide range of catastrophic injuries, including brain injury, spinal cord injury and complex physical and psychological trauma.

As an Occupational Therapist, Joyce worked with adults with acquired brain injury arising from general medical, orthopaedic and neurological problems as well as challenging behaviour. She has also worked with clients with learning disabilities in the community, conducting community-based assessments and rehabilitation, and working with them towards resettlement. In Zimbabwe, she worked with adults and children with neurological conditions in a rehabilitation unit as well as at a special needs school. She also conducted workplace assessments and work hardening with a focus on ergonomics and return to work.

Joyce became a Case Manager in September 2010. She has, since that time, developed expertise in the assessment of the clinical, social, and psychological sequelae of traumatic injuries for the individual and their families, and in the design and development of complex packages of care and support involving statutory and independent providers.

Since graduating in 1996 in Zimbabwe, she has undertaken extensive professional development and holds an MSc In Advanced Occupational Therapy. She is trained in the Assessment of Motor and Process Skills (AMPS) and as a Best Interests Assessor. Throughout her career, Joyce has attended regular clinical training courses to invest in her professional development and ensure the highest quality of service to her clients. She is committed to continuing professional development. She has delivered a variety of different trainings to therapists and the wider multi-disciplinary team; she has provided regular supervision and mentoring to support workers/carers within her teams.

Joyce is registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC), and is a member of the British Association of Occupational Therapists (BAOT), the British Association of Brain Injury & Complex Case Management (BABICM) and Case Management Society UK (CMSUK).
