Amber is a qualified Occupational Therapist, who has worked within a variety of clinical settings in acute and community hospitals both in the United Kingdom and within South Africa. Amber has extensive experience using a holistic, client centred problem-solving approach to maximise independence and quality of life. As a Case Manager, Amber works with adult and paediatric clients who have sustained a brain injury, complex orthopaedic trauma/amputation or spinal cord injury.
Throughout her career as an Occupational Therapist, Amber has gained experience with clients with neurological conditions, multiple physical and cognitive conditions including traumatic brain injury, orthopaedic injuries, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury, burns, cerebral palsy and dementia. She has worked in a wide range of clinical specialties including Stroke and Neuro Rehabilitation, Acute Medicine, Mental Health, Community Outreach, and in Paediatrics in both Neurological and Learning Disability.
Amber has used advanced clinical reasoning to support complex discharges in her role at St Pancras Hospital. She has undertaken risk assessments and advised others on determining appropriate management, specifically relating to the therapeutic management of clients as well as recommendations about their ongoing care needs, provision of equipment and advice regarding adaptations to their homes.
Amber has experience in the administering of physical, perceptual and cognitive assessments and strives to provide evidence-based, client focused interventions in order to promote optimal recovery, functional capacity and quality of life. Within this role, Amber has effectively disseminated assessment results to the wider professional team, client and carer to support complex discharge planning. Amber also has a strong understanding of the Mental Capacity Act and Safeguarding principles.
Amber has extensive experience in working with a variety of professionals, liaising effectively and professionally, resolving conflicting professional opinions and justifying clinical reasoning. Amber has developed written and verbal skills to allow dissemination of highly sensitive information through the production of accurate reports and clinical notes regarding assessment, treatment, recommendations and therapeutic goals. This includes in her role completing medico-legal reports for clients with severe injuries.
Amber is registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the British Association of Brain Injury Case Managers (BABICM). She is committed to maintaining her continued professional development through attendance at courses and participation in service development.
