Jennifer qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 1996 and has developed her skills and knowledge through working in a range of clinical areas with individuals with a variety of diagnoses and impairments.  Jennifer has extensive experience using a holistic, client centred problem solving approach to maximise independence and quality of life. As a Case Manager, Jennifer works with clients who have sustained a brain injury, spinal cord injury and other complex trauma or conditions.

 

Throughout her career as an Occupational Therapist, Jennifer has gained experience with clients with neurological conditions, multiple complex diagnoses and chronic lung conditions.  She has worked in a wide range of clinical specialties including Stroke, Acute Medicine, Accident and Emergency, Orthopaedics, Community Stroke Outreach, Acute Mental Health and Forensics.

 

Jennifer has used advanced clinical reasoning and analysis to support complex discharges.  She has undertaken risk assessments and advised others on determining appropriate management specifically relating to the therapeutic management of clients as well as recommendations about their ongoing care needs, provision of equipment and advice regarding adaptations to their homes.

 

Jennifer has extensive experience in the administering of physical, perceptual and cognitive assessments. Jennifer has effectively disseminated assessment results to the wider professional team, client and carer to support complex discharge planning.  Jennifer works within the safeguarding principles ensuring that complex risk assessments, including the issues of capacity and restraint are implemented utilising ethical reasoning within the legal framework to facilitate a safe discharge to an appropriate setting.

 

Jennifer has consistently advocated on behalf of clients when required and has extensive experience in working with a variety of professionals liaising effectively and professionally, resolving conflicting professional opinions and justifying clinical reasoning. Jennifer has developed written and verbal skills to allow dissemination of highly sensitive information through the production of accurate reports and clinical notes regarding assessment, treatment, recommendations and therapeutic goals.

 

Jennifer is registered with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC), is a member of the British Association of Occupational Therapists (BAOT) and the British Association of Brain Injury Case Managers (BABICM).
